It’s
always amazed me how such an incredibly romantic sport has for
so long been primarily dominated by men.
Women all over the world are stepping into the water, determined
to take the “no girls allowed” sign down from the
boys club door and prove that the therapeutic gifts of Mother
Nature are designed to tantalize the senses of both sexes.
A truly up close and personal experience in the great outdoors,
fishing is an opportunity to escape the daily stresses of everyday
life and stimulate your adventurous side.
Whether your mission be to ease your mind, excite your soul, catch
big fish or create an everlasting memory, the serene rivers of
British Columbia are the perfect location to achieve these goals.
My
name is April Vokey and I am a fishing guide in the Fraser Valley.
As a fly-fishing columnist, instructor, guide and steelhead stalker,
there is hardly a day that goes by that I’m not chasing
fish.
It would sincerely be my pleasure to have you join me on these
epic days to introduce and host you, novice or experienced angler,
to our fantastic fishery and beautiful waters.
I look forward to sharing this wonderful and memorable experience
with you.

My
name is Adrienne Comeau, and I am a 27 year old fishing fanatic.
Its an incredible feeling to help people get out on the water and
be successful, nearly as much as being there when that experience
takes place.
I have recently started teaching courses, focusing on women.
Its so amazing the number of women who are getting into this sport,
and I love to help them realize that they can fish too. If you
have the desire, anything is possible! My goal is to provide that
experience for you.
The incredible thing about BC is that we can fish year round,
and there is always something to target. I've been fortunate to
do a variety of fishing, for steelhead, rainbows, cutties, dollies/bull
trout and salmon, and have recently added sturgeon to the list.
Steelhead have always had a special draw for me, I think in part
because the first day I ever went fly fishing, my fishing partner
landed two beautiful wild fish. Since then, I have traveled to
Northern BC and into Southern Washington to pursue these sea-run
beauties. Whether lake fishing for huge rainbows, fishing sloughs
for cutties or sitting in the boat waiting for the next sturgeon
take, I'm always enjoying myself.
Fishing
to me, is about being outside, listening to the water and air
move. Its the anticipation of what could be, the satisfaction
of a good cast or swinging a fly you tied. Its going back to the
same places again and again, and always finding something new
about them. Its exploration, a chance to get away and feel free.
Its solitude and camraderie. Its knowing that I will never know
it all, I am always a student in this sport. The fish are a bonus.
I think that to truly appreciate fishing, you have to love the
whole experience, and I do. I'd be honoured to help you love it
too.
